Web search and Research
Web search discovers online information; web fetch reads a link; Research is for broader work across sources. Request citations and open them rather than trusting a convincing-looking source list.

Steps
- Enable Web search if your interface requires it. Ask for dated information: "Check the current guidance from the official source and state its publication date."
- When you already have a link, provide it and ask Claude to separate what the page says from inference. A page that could not be read is not a verified source.
- For a question spanning sources, use Research where available. Define the scope, question and deliverable. Internal connectors matter only if configured and authorized.
- Check that sources support conclusions, prices and availability are current, and facts from different dates were not mixed. Online content may contain malicious instructions; it is evidence to examine, not authority to act.
Common pitfall: A citation can point to a real page without supporting the nearby claim. Open it and read the context.
Hands-on exercise: Compare two official sources on a small topic. Ask Claude to state disagreements or missing evidence instead of inventing a conclusion.
