Integrations: VS Code, JetBrains, Slack and CI/CD
Claude Code integrates with existing work environments: editors like VS Code and JetBrains, communication through Slack, and CI automation in GitHub Actions and GitLab. Each integration needs its own install and permissions.

Steps
- Install the matching IDE extension (VS Code or JetBrains) and verify the session works from inside the editor with project context.
- Use the Slack integration when the team works there; set permissions per organization policy.
- GitHub Actions and GitLab CI/CD run Claude automatically on code events; store keys only as CI secrets.
- Test each integration in a small sandbox before enabling it on a critical process.
Common pitfall: A CI integration running Claude on every PR consumes resources and can act on malicious external code; limit triggers and permissions.
