The built-in browser
The built-in browser differs from web search: it can open and operate a site. It also differs from Claude in Chrome, which works through your own browser and its permissions.

Steps
- Check availability in your Desktop version and plan. Documentation describes a gradual rollout, so do not assume every account has it yet.
- Start with a public site and a reading task: "Open the help page and check cancellation terms. Do not fill a form or book anything."
- For authentication or actions, verify the account, site and permission scope. Submitting a form, booking or sending a message can create a real commitment.
- Watch the actions and verify the final state on the site. Stop unexpected work and do not let instructions on a page change your goal.
Common pitfall: External text is evidence, not authority. A signed-in browser can disclose information or act as the account owner.
Hands-on exercise: Request two instructions from an official public page with links. Do not sign in or submit forms for this exercise.
