Claude in Chrome
The extension works alongside you in Chrome with authorized access to sites and tabs. It can work alone or with Cowork and Claude Code. Site access is not blanket permission for every action on it.

Steps
- Install the extension through the official link and sign in to the intended account. Check eligibility and requested permissions.
- Open the side panel on a sample site. Request one page read and specify whether other tabs may be used.
- Review site permissions and action-approval settings. Automatic approval reduces interruptions but makes task boundaries more important.
- For integrated work, define what Chrome gathers and what Cowork or Code produces. Check output, actions and files before sharing.
Common pitfall: Do not practice automation in banking, medical or other sensitive accounts. The extension is not your only security boundary.
Hands-on exercise: Compare two public documentation pages in two tabs. Request a summary with both links and no write actions.
