Voice mode, dictation and continuing on mobile; platform differences
Voice mode allows full spoken conversations with Claude: you speak and hear spoken replies, and you can switch between voice and text in the same chat. As of this check it is in beta for all plans on web, Desktop and mobile, but built to work best from your phone.

Steps
- On the web or in Desktop, start a new chat and click the sound wave symbol in the lower right corner of the chat window to activate voice mode.
- Speak naturally; your words populate the input field automatically, and Claude replies with voice and keeps the conversation going.
- You can switch between text and voice inside the same chat, and voice mode can use web search and your connected tools during a spoken conversation.
- To finish, click Stop in the lower right corner. On mobile the icon sits next to the microphone in the input field, and the experience there suits on-the-go use.
Common pitfall: A voice chat is still a chat with Claude: the same privacy and memory rules apply, and a sensitive conversation you do not want remembered belongs in incognito, not in voice.
Hands-on exercise: Open voice mode in a new chat and verbally ask for a summary of a topic you know. Switch to text midway and confirm the context carries over.
